    A Fatwa Against Yoga
The Grand Mufti of Egypt has declared that Yoga is a "sin" for Muslims because it is considered "one of the ways or practicing Hinduism." His Fatwa was endorsed by Dr Fayza Khater, a professor at al-Azhar University, the seat of Islamic learning. Says Dr Khater:

"[The Fatwa] protects people from deviating from Islam…. People are lost and deviation is very easy. I believe the mufti made the right response."

However, not everybody is convinced this is the right decision. One Muslim Yoga instructor who has been practicing Yoga for 15 years says the Mufti "does not know what he is talking about."
