Hinduness for World Peace and Harmony
    By Shree Vinekar
    May 13, 2005

Abstract: This article was inspired by the dialogue between two great minds of the 20th century. Albert Einstein approached Sigmund Freud to provide a psychoanalytic model for understanding the dynamics of war and peace. These deep thinkers struggled to find solutions to man’s preoccupation with wars and man’s engagement in repeated wars throughout the history of mankind. Today we can certainly say that the technology of war fuels the economy and...

Anglicizing Bharath and Bharathiya has got my "goat" a long time back. Now it is "hindu" "hindu ness" "hinduism" "dindutva" and even for Gods' sake "handava" and "haindavism".

I am not a hindu - I am proud follower of "sanathana dharmaH". I know what it is but for anybody else to what that means in English see Monier Williams Sanskrit English Dictionary.

"sanat" and derivatives meaning older and ancient in the oldest now available vedaH like the Rik and Atharva was never highlighted by translators of 19th century. This was because it was not convenient to fit into their scheme of "religion"s base. Modern anglicized "scientific models" of history by our anglicised and secular scientists too ignore this mention of "vedic civilization" earlier than the vedaH.

Dhaarmik literature such as 18 purana, "Vaalmiki Ramayana" and "Mahabhaarath" though called "myths" are pretty clear in the time frames of yugas - these belong to satya yug, dwapara yug and thretha yug. And these are mind boggling years ago.

We are now in the "kali" yug. This yug started from scratch after a global man made calamity - world war described as the "Mahabharath".

In this "kali yug" - Bharath (India) though blessed with the vedaH, sanskrit and culture of "sanathana dharmaH" has not had time and opportunity enough to study and implement "sciece and technologies" enshrined in the vedaH and shaastras. Or rather the growth of science and technology based on tremendous effort in western countries is of course on a much higher level than what it is in Bharath.

The inherent difficulty with growth of science and technology in the west or westernized "science" in India is struggle and dichotomy between "science & Technology" and religion or dharmaH(if understood to mean hindu)There alway will be struggle to fit in discovered facts with existing dogma. Either the dogma rules and facts by force have to "falsified" to suit dogma or dogma - religious scriptures changed - modernized whatever to suit the facts. This has been done any number of times and is constantly being done in westernized and semitic religions. Sanathana Dharmah is an inclusive package deal of reality and truth. Neither can the vedah nor the scriptures be changed to suit the ephemerous needs of society. This is the "grandest wholesome unification theory" that can be conceived. This includes man-plant relationship, man-animal relationship, man-nature relationship, man-cosmos relationship, man-deity relationship. And the starting point is "dharmah" and the end point is "dharmaH". The paths are "dharmah" or "adharmah" or detours either way. At the end of the infinite journeys there are no eternal dead ends -"Hell" or "Heaven". And hence it has the greatest impetus to makind "hope" for correcting mistakes and going on.

Today none can say that the vedah is not accessible. Of course there are always many things that have been held back from public gaze in millions of families across Bharath. This is their birthright is it not - to live and live with freedom of mind body and soul. Our situation has been quite like that in movie "Mars Attacks" with the music of Bhagavad Gita blowing to bits alien minds.

This explains the reason why Bharath in this yug
